Two Mensches, One Dream

If the walls of Kosher delis could speak, they would (schm)ooze invaluable wisdom and endless laughs. Harley Finkelstein (Shopify) and David Segal (DAVIDsTEA) are Jewish entrepreneurs influenced by the greats who came before them.

But, they realized no one was archiving the best behind-the-scenes stories ever told. Before time was up, they set out on a passion project to preserve the memories, mishaps, and wins of the people who have seen it all.

Big Shot tells the stories of the people that shaped an entire generation, whose shoulders we often stand on without even knowing it, and who continue to serve as an inspiration for the future.

Big Shot Foundation is a non-profit organization.

Big Shot is produced and marketed by Pen Name Consulting.

Big Shot Foundation’s Purpose

To advance the public’s appreciation of, to alter public perception of, and to promote a better understanding of Jewish identity, values and cultural experience by sharing, archiving and celebrating untold stories of successful Jewish entrepreneurs in our society;

To educate the public about Jewish culture and heritage through recording and producing Jewish oral history; and

To foster multiculturalism, diversity and inclusiveness by preserving, sharing showcasing and celebrating the contributions of Jewish leaders in our society.

The Foundation produces the Big Shot podcast and invites prominent Jewish leaders to sit down with our directors, Harley Finkelstein and David Segal, to tell their stories of success, how their Jewish background, culture and faith have shaped their journeys and to share their advice on topics that are relevant to today’s Jewish community.

This is usually done in-person with each guest, either at a studio or at a different location agreed to with the guest, and the sessions are recorded by video. The sessions are then edited by our directors to provide commentary and context, where appropriate, and then published on various online platforms (such as Apple Podcasts, YouTube, etc.). Generally, the sessions last between 20 and 90 minutes.
